**Celebrating 160 Years with a Bold New Take on a Historic Favorite**

In 2025, Marin French Cheese Co. celebrates its 160th anniversary with the introduction of new formats and flavors of the cheese that helped put the company on the map. One such innovation is _Big Breakfast_—just as the name suggests, it's a larger wheel of a time-honored classic.

Marin French has been crafting _Breakfast Brie_ since the late 1800s. For over a century, this distinctively fresh cheese has captured the hearts of locals, visitors, and cheese lovers nationwide. What makes it a “fresh brie”? It follows the same traditional recipe and artisanal cheesemaking methods as the company’s other brie styles, but it skips the aging process. The result is a fresh, rindless cheese with a tangy flavor and a slightly springy texture reminiscent of cheese curds. _Big Breakfast_ offers the ideal size and shape for special occasions or culinary creativity.

Breakfast Brie has a storied past. Originally created as a protein-rich alternative for former gold miners turned Bay Area dock workers, the cheese rose to fame during a regional egg shortage in the late 1800s. Recognizing a need, founder Jefferson Thompson crafted a quick-to-market cheese with a catchy name that also happened to be delicious. More than a century later, there's still nothing quite like it. Whether it’s enjoyed at sunrise or as a late-night snack, _Big Breakfast_ brings a flavorful piece of California history to the table.
