**160 Years of Craftsmanship, Now with a Savory Twist**

In 2025, Marin French Cheese Co. celebrates its 160th anniversary by unveiling new formats and flavors of the cheese that made the company a household name. _Petite Breakfast Chive_ is a flavorful new take on a historic favorite.

Since the late 1800s, Marin French has been crafting its beloved Breakfast Brie. For over a century, this one-of-a-kind cheese has earned a loyal following among locals, travelers, and cheese enthusiasts across the country. What exactly is a fresh brie? It’s made using the same artisanal recipe and cheesemaking methods as the company’s other brie styles but bypasses the aging room. The result is a fresh, rindless cheese with a tangy flavor and a slightly springy texture, similar to cheese curds. Petite Breakfast Chive enhances this base with finely chopped chives, delivering a bright herbaceous note and a savory finish.

The origins of Breakfast Brie date back to the late 1800s, when Marin French founder Jefferson Thompson saw an opportunity to create a protein-rich alternative for former gold miners working as dockhands in the Bay Area. At the time, a booming population and a regional egg shortage spurred the need for a new kind of breakfast staple. The result was a clever, quick-to-market cheese that stood the test of time. More than 100 years later, it remains a true original. Whether enjoyed in the morning or as a late-night indulgence, Petite Breakfast Chive offers a delicious way to savor a slice of California’s culinary history.
