MALT Hike at Hicks Mountain Ranch
Protected by MALT in 2024, Hicks Mountain Ranch is home to one of the highest peaks in Marin County and is where the Dellinger family sells fresh farm eggs and honey right from the source. They have brush-grazing goats onsite along with beef and honey production, and you’ll have the chance to feed the pasture-raised Hicks Mountain Hens.
With its native plants, redwood groves, and dense chaparral, the biodiversity on this ranch is notable. As part of a 14,226-acre contiguous block of MALT-protected land, Hicks Mountain Ranch adds to one of the largest conservation areas in the entire Bay Area.
Two hike options:
A very challenging 4.5 mile loop with about 1,000 feet of elevation gain, on a combination of trail and ranch road, with incredible views from the top. We strongly recommend hiking poles and trail-ready shoes with a good grip.
An easy ⅔ mile out and back from the farm stand along a ranch road to a shaded picnic area with tables, a great spot to stop for lunch.
