We are partnering with Walker Creek Ranch for a special afternoon hike, a stunning 1,720-acre landscape, celebrating 40 years of permanent protection. You’ll hike along Walker Creek, through alder and fragrant bay laurel forest—a thriving habitat for many species including deer, fox, river otters, and newts.

Walker Creek Ranch is where education, agriculture, and conservation meet. Home to Marin’s residential outdoor education program, the ranch welcomes 4,500 students annually. It is also a working cattle ranch with gardens and 20 miles of trails.

With support from MALT’s Stewardship Assistance Program and partners including the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Occidental Arts and Ecology Center, the ranch recently completed an impactful creek restoration project. A small change to fencing reduced erosion, improved pasture management, and allowed native vegetation to recover—helping stabilize the soil and support healthier habitat for coho salmon and the entire watershed.
